The European Commission is currently assessing the impact of the 2019 Copyright in the Digital Single Market Directive.
This legislative instrument was crucial in establishing legal safeguards for Cultural Heritage Institutions to be able to use copyright-protected material as part of their public interest activities.
A stakeholder survey is now open for all of you to contribute your views on areas such as text and data mining, preservation, out of commerce works and the public domain, among other aspects, in order to improve the directive further
You can access the survey here - deadline Friday 5 June
You can take a look at the questions by scrolling down this page, and selecting the type of organisation you represent, e.g. cultural heritage organisation or research organisation.
Please contribute & share - here is a pic of a beloved character who entered public domain in 2026, to grab your attention!
