The National Library of Scotland is seeking a Head of Archives and Manuscript Collections, to lead the Library’s curation and research for these important collections.This is a senior role, with critical responsibilities for collection development and information, interpretation and research, building partnerships and reaching diverse audiences.
It is a permanent, full time role, with a salary of £43,232.
The Library’s collections in this area are among the most important in Scotland, covering hundreds of years of history but also with active contemporary collecting interests. We are looking for a strong leader who will innovate and develop these collections and who has a clear vision for how they can contribute to the Library’s strategic aims to develop and widen the Library’s audiences.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable capacity to lead and inspire staff and the partners who work with us to open up the national collections to the public. They will have the necessary skills to manage complex and unique collections, and experience of delivering quality and innovative services in a cultural and digital context.
This is a crucial and high-profile role which requires excellent team working, leadership and professionalism. The Library’s plans for the coming years are ambitious, and this role will help to shape the Library’s strategic capacity to build its collections and to open them up to reach people across Scotland and the world.
