EURBICA – ICDH Korea Workshop to Promote European Joint Nominations to the UNESCO Memory of the World International Register
20–22 April 2026. Madrid, Spain
The International Centre for Documentary Heritage (ICDH) Korea under the auspices of UNESCO, in cooperation with EURBICA and the Subdirectorate General of the Spanish State Archives, invites any type of European archives member of EURBICA across Europe to participate in a specialized workshop aimed at fostering joint nominations to the next cycle of the UNESCO Memory of the World (MoW) International Register.
Participants must have identified previously at least the concept of a joint MoW nomination, together with one or more other countries, either within or outside Europe. The workshop will be conducted by specialists experienced in evaluating MoW nominations, offering expert guidance on the development and strengthening these joint submissions. Participants will also be requested to contribute data to a digital platform developed by ICDH Korea, designed to increase the visibility of existing and upcoming MoW registrations.
ICDH Korea will award 20 scholarships to facilitate participation in the Madrid workshop for archivists interested in developing these joint nominations. Scholarships are available exclusively to representatives of any EURBICA European archives and will cover:
● Round-trip economy airfare from the capital city of the participant’s country to Madrid.
● All lunches during the workshop.
● A gala dinner.
Participants will be responsible for their hotel accommodation and any expenses not explicitly mentioned above.
Interested institutions must submit a motivation document (free-style writing) before 22 February 2026 time to eurbica@ica.org outlining national archive of origin, and the archive/s with which you wish to submit the joint nomination to Memory of the World.
