With the occasion of Archives Week 2025 in Greece, historian and archivist Iordana Chatziisaak presented the historical memory of post-war Greece from the Archives of the Greek Police / Directorate of Foreigners of Thessaloniki. The collection, covering the period from 1944 to 2007, holds more than 22000 archival documents, a critical source to reconstruct the history of Modern Greece. The documents include, amongst others, individual files of foreigners; material on refugee camps and migration flows; documents about the role of the Gendarmerie, the Hellenic Police, and the security services in post-war Greece; documents on espionage, propaganda, minorities, political persecution, and the management of national issues, such as the Macedonian issue.
