The Unit of Economic History at Umeå University, Sweden, invites applications for the Browaldh Postdoctoral Fellowship. The Fellowship is offered for a period of three years, with the potential for renewal for a further three years. It is funded by Handelsbanken through the Jan Wallander and Tom Hedelius Foundation and the Tore Browaldh Foundation.
The successful candidate will join a vibrant and internationally engaged research environment, contributing to scholarship in areas such as the historical development of private and public insurance systems, welfare state formation, the socio-economic implications of risk and uncertainty, and the application of insurance data to the study of long-term socio-economic outcomes.
Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) in economic history, economics, history, or a related field by the time of appointment. Preference is given to candidates who earned their PhD within the last three years, though exceptions apply. Experience with Python, R, or Stata is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a strong potential for independent research.
