The Domenica di Carta (Paper Sunday) is an annual tradition where Italian archives are open to the public to highlight the immense and precious heritage preserved in the State Archives and Libraries. The 2025 edition will take place on Sunday 12th October; as part of the celebtrations, on the 11th October the "Carte in dimora" (Documents in Houses) will return, organized by the Italian Historic Houses Association (ADSI) in collaboration with the General Directorate of Archives.
Over 110 private historic archives and libraries, located in castles, fortresses, and villas across Italy, will be open to visitors, offering a journey through the history of our country via places rich in precious traces of our past. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire up close rare and valuable examples of books, papers, correspondences, manuscripts, and collections beyond just books.
“Carte in Dimora” is part of ADSI’s yearly efforts to raise awareness among civil society and institutions about the vital role historic homes play in the social, economic, and cultural fabric of Italy.
