The Fondazione ISEC (Institute for Contemporary History) , thanks to its collaboration with the Milan City Archives, has completed the project for the full digitisation of the complete collection of Il Popolo d’Italia, the newspaper founded by Benito Mussolini in 1914, which for almost thirty years represented one of the central instruments of fascist information, propaganda, and consensus-building for the regime.
The entire corpus of Il Popolo d’Italia is for the first time available online and freely accessible on the Fondazione ISEC website, at this link.
This is a project of great scholarly and civic value, making available to researchers and students a documentary heritage of extraordinary importance for understanding the political and cultural history of twentieth-century Italy.
As this work has required a very significant investment on our part, Fondazione ISEC kindly ask users of the digital newspaper library to contribute through a voluntary donation, which may be tax-deductible - the proceeds will allow to continue digitising further newspapers, beginning with the Milan edition of L’Unità.
