On Tuesday 11th July, I had the pleasure of representing Archives Portal Europe at "Discovering Collections, Discovering Communities" (DCDC) conference's History Day exhibition in Durham, England. This was an opportunity to share the website's useful tools among researchers and archival institutions and demonstrate how it can be used to save time in accessing items from repositories across Europe, as well as to broaden historical research, uncovering a range of perspectives on any given topic. There was lots of positive enthusiasm for the website and the vast range of searchable collections. The exhibition was also a great opportunity for me to meet people working in archives across Britain, and to learn about their exciting collections and projects. As someone proudly from the north-east of England, it was great to see represented collections sharing the region's long history and heritage. Many thanks to JISC for organising DCDC and to Durham University for hosting.
