Our Content Provider Sheffield City Archives has organised the project ‘Dig Where You Stand’, where artists are are called to dig in their city's archives to unearth stories of people of colour living, working, and putting down roots in South Yorkshire over hundreds of years. The project was originally developed by writer Désirée Reynolds during her 6-month residency at Sheffield Archives in 2021. Since then, the project has grown into an archival justice movement which seeks to empower racially marginalised groups in the present day. In 2023, 14 artists of colour were commissioned to use the stories they found in the archives to create art. Their artworks is now on display in various venues across Sheffield city centre from the 20th July to the 18th August. The Guardian has covered the story; more info on dwys.co.uk
