It is now possible for everyone to consult online 1.9 million archival documents about slavery and slave trade, that have been made available by Nationaal Archief (the Dutch National Archives). This includes documents such as ship's logs, plantation lists and letters; they come from the archives of, among others, the West India Company, the Middelburg Commercial Company and the Society of Suriname. The intent of the Archives is to provide more context to information that was already available.
