France24 reported that Kuwait has received a total of three shipments of documents and other items taken by Iraqi forces during the 1990 invasion of Kuwait led by Saddam Hussein. The last one arrived in March 2021 and weighed eight tonnes. Iraq occupied oil-rich Kuwait for seven months in 1990 before being pushed back by a US-led international coalition.
Kuwait's assistant foreign minister Nasser al-Hain welcomed the shipment, saying it contained archives from Kuwait University, the information ministry and other institutions.
