We stand in solidarity with our colleagues at the Центр Досліджень Визвольного Руху (Center for Research on the Liberation Movement) and Державна архівна служба України (State Archive Service of Ukraine) and we hope they can be safe, and that the archival heritage of Ukraine will not suffer any damage. As the last surviving soldier of World War I Harry Patch put it, 'No war is worth it. No war is worth the loss of a couple of lives let alone thousands.' As archivists and historians, we hope that the preservation and analysis of history may eventually put an end to warfare, or at least allow for reconciliation.
