Our Content Provider the Churchill Archives Centre (Churchill College, Cambridge) is seeking to appoint an Archives Assistant: it's a permanent appointment.
Duties will include assisting with the administration of the Centre’s reading room and storage areas, providing an enquiry and reprographics service, supporting collection processing and assisting in outreach activity.
This position would be ideal for a person seeking practical experience in working with archives. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a passion for archives and ideally have an interest in modern history with good communication, customer service, administration and IT skills.
Applications will be considered from candidates from all backgrounds. Previous archive experience is not essential. The Centre especially welcomes applications from groups currently underrepresented in the archival profession.
This role is an excellent opportunity for people who intend to obtain a professional archival or related qualification or who are currently enrolled on a part-time professional archival training course. Churchill College is committed to provide financial support of up to 50% of course fees each year for staff undertaking relevant part-time archive training courses, as well as offering support for other training opportunities.
The appointment is permanent and is available as a full-time position (37.5 hours per work), or as a part-time position for three or more days per week (22.5 hours per week or more). Requests for flexible working will be considered.
Starting salary: £20,251 to £20,836 per annum (pro rata) plus other benefits and financial support for professional training.
