The European Commission has launched a Call for Papers ahead of the planned eArchiving Geospatial Digital Records Preservation Virtual Conference, set to take place on 1 and 2 June 2021.
This virtual conference is organised as part of the eArchiving Building Block by the European Commission, the E-ARK Consortium, the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia and the company Geoarh. This conference will be a two-day event bringing together producers of geospatial information, archives, and data repositories; solution providers; and researchers.
This conference’s purpose is to highlight the key factors that affect the handling of geospatial data, its preservation and future reuse. Participants can learn about the following major topics:
- Best practices and solutions (data life cycle challenges, tools for geodata preservation, etc.);
- Use-cases of historical geospatial records for the data-driven economy (location intelligence, AI applications, research);
- Ensuring seamless access through interoperability (standards, formats, preservation specifications, dissemination practices);
- Impact of new technologies in the geospatial industry and their impact on preservation and reuse.
Ahead of this event, a Call for Papers looks to build the content of this conference around the ongoing work in the area of geospatial digital records by leaders in the field.
Submission of one-page abstract: 9 April 2021
Acceptance notification: 23 April 2021
They encourage contributions from across the geospatial community. This is an excellent opportunity for those working in the field to present their experience, solutions or ideas.
