FranceArchives, the national portal to access archives in France, was launched in March 2017 by the Ministry of Culture, in association with the Ministries of Foreign affairs and Armies. It is an aggregator for finding documents featured in all archives in France and displays and collections belonging to 70 partners: 5 national (3 National archives, Foreign affairs, Army), 43 departmental archives, 10 municipal archives, 10 pubic institutions (Bibliothèque nationale de France, Observatoire de Paris, Hôpitaux de Paris, Musée du Quai-Branly, Museum d’histoire naturelle, La Contemporaine, Maison des Sciences de l’homme, Bibliothèque interuniversitaire de la Sorbonne) et 2 associations. It counts about 48.000 finding aids and more than 9 millions of descriptions. The portal’s first aim is to give access to the archival descriptions to any kind of public, from researchers to citizens looking for some administrative paper or simple information. The research on the portal is quite simple: it's conducted through a bar on the homepage and the results can be filtered. Since the very beginning, FranceArchives had an objective to use linked open data technologies to help the research at every level. More general information on the portal is avalaible in French.
