Serbia: A Map of the Belgrade Zoo, 1939

A map of the zoo in Belgrade. In 1939, the year of the maps publication, it housed 1179 animals of 190 species, a riding academy with ponies, camels and elephants for children.

Georgia: Ancha Gospel, XII-XIII century

The Ancha Gospel is one of the unique manuscripts preserved at the National Archives of Georgia. The document was created at a time when Georgian chasing and art reached their peak. During that period different art forms were developed and educational centers were opened, where mainly literature was rewritten and translated from different languages into Georgian.

Iceland: Hayfield maps

One and a half decade into the twentieth century, the Icelandic parliament decided to have the hayfields and vegetable gardens on Icelandic farms mapped. Between 1916 and 1920, more than 5,500 such maps from 205 districts were made.

Greece: Letter regarding Acropolis of Athens

This record from 1836 shows the early efforts to restore and promote the Acropolis to remove the interventions it had suffered as well as the Greek government's efforts to have the reliefs from the temple of Apteros Nike returned fron the United Kingdom.
