Encouragement and precise rules to vote the Block of Democratic Parties (led by Romanian Communist Party).

1946

Scope and content

Encouragement and precise rules to vote the Block of Democratic Parties (led by Romanian Communist Party). Historiography showed that communists won the vote through widespread intimidation tactics and electoral fraud, at the expence of both Romanian traditional parties, the National Peasants’ Party and the National Liberal Party. The event must be studied considering the international context around the country (similar flawed elections held at the time in the emerging Eastern Block, as in Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland) and the pressure of the Soviets involved.
