Documents of the International Typographers' Secretariat, one of the predecessors of the IGF, consisting of minutes of board meetings, documents relating to the 1930 and 1939 congresses, statutes, circulars, pamphlets and press clippings 1913-1949; records of the IGF consisting of agenda, proceedings, reports and other documents relating to IGF congresses 1949-1967; agenda and proceedings of Executive Committee meetings 1949-1959 and minutes of joint meetings of the Executive Committee with the boards of the IGF Trade Groups 1950-1960; agenda and proceedings of meetings of the Bureau 1955-1958; circulars 1949-1972; correspondence with the Liaison Office of the International Trade Secretariats (ITS), the ICFTU and other international trade union organizations 1949-1970; correspondence with affiliated graphical trade union organizations in Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, the United States and many other countries 1949-1971; other correspondence 1949-1968; proceedings of board meetings, correspondence, reports and enquiries of the IGF Trade Groups Typography, Bookbinding and Lithography 1949-1970.

Historical Note

The typographers' international, founded in Paris in 1889, the lithographers' international, founded in London in 1896 and the bookbinders' international, founded in Nuremberg in 1907 merged in 1949 to form the International Graphical Federation (IGF); as an International Trade Secretariat (ITS) affiliated with the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU); suspended its ICFTU membership in 1967, because of the affiliation of a French communist union; has its secretariat in Berne; within the IGF the Trade Groups Typography, Bookbinding and Lithography exist; periodicals: IGF Journal (biannual) and IGF Statistics.
